- Brick repairs – removing and replacing damaged or spalled bricks with carefully colour- matched replacements.
- Brick pointing – specialising in lime pointing of brickwork.
- Rubbed brickwork – repairs, repointing, and replacements to rubbed and gauged brickwork.
- Chimney repairs and rebuilding – from minor repairs to full chimney reconstruction.
Our philosophy is that the brickwork should be the feature, not the mortar. For this reason, we select mortar mixes that are sympathetic, subservient to the brickwork, and matched to the existing.
Much of our work is on listed buildings, where maintaining and preserving as much of the original fabric as possible is essential. This requires disciplined, careful bricklaying, which we are proud to provide.
For example, for the chimneys on the building above, previous cement pointing had caused much of the original lime mortar to erode. A complete rebuild was required, but as the property was listed, it was vital to retain as many of the original bricks as possible, along with their weathered faces. To achieve this, we dismantled the chimney course by course, numbering each brick before rebuilding it in the exact same position as before.
