This was another chalk cob walled garden. There were many reasons for the poor condition of the wall but the issue was now a structural one. Could the wall be repaired or was a sectional rebuild needed. We went for the repair with cob bricks option. Shown here is the method used.
Here is one of the completed repairs. Note that as the wall was not to be rendered, a chalk mortar was used to bed the chalk bricks in, and therefore match the colour better. The repair will weather and match the old cob given time.
